"MEDIEVAL DOOR, GLASTONBURY ABBEY, ENGLAND" |
|
|
TITLE |
Medieval Door, Glastonbury Abbey, England |
DESCRIPTION
Glastonbury is located in Somerset, the southwest area of England. It is best known as the resting place of the "Holy Grail" and the cathedral that Henry VIII destroyed during his dissolution of the catholic monasteries. This painting is of a medieval door that was part of the original cathedral. It hangs on chains from the ceiling in the museum located on the grounds of the monastery ruins. The remains of this door were amazing. The door was about 15-18 feet high and about 4 inches thick. I was compelled to capture each nuance of this beautiful behemoth. It will probably be hanging there 1000 years from now. |
